Description
Shernweek Manor is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It features rendered walls and a gable-ended slate roof with two brick stacks at the gable ends. The building has a two-room plan with a central stair hall and likely narrow service rooms at the rear, along with outshuts at each end.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front, consisting of 16-pane sash windows. All the windows are from the later 19th century, except for the original ground floor window on the right. The central bay projects slightly and has a pedimented doorcase supported by replacement concrete pillars, with a 19th-century glazed and panelled door behind it. There is a lean-to structure against the left-hand end.
A two-storey battlemented wall extends from the right-hand end, featuring an arched doorway that conceals the outshut behind. The property also includes a stone garden wall in front, which has central piers and a wrought iron gate. The interior has not been inspected.
