Description
Homelea is a small house dating from the early 18th century, with an addition from the 19th century. It is constructed of rendered cob walls, and features a thatched gable-ended roof with two brick gable end stacks, the left-hand one being a projecting rendered stack. The original plan comprised two rooms with a central stairhall, the outer rooms being heated by gable end fireplaces. A 19th-century rear outshut has been added, and a small, likely contemporary, outbuilding projects from the right-hand end of the house.
The front of the house presents a symmetrical three-window facade. The upper floor has late 19th-century six-pane sashes, while the ground floor has an early 19th-century gabled porch sheltering a six-panel door. The thatched roof of the projecting outbuilding is visible from the front. Inside, the fireplaces in both rooms have rough wooden lintels, and the right-hand room contains a clom oven. A small, original two-light square section wooden mullion window is located in the rear wall of the left-hand room. The barn features straight principal rafters with curved collars halved on.
The property is accompanied by a low garden wall in front of the house, topped with 19th-century iron railings. The railings have posts with decorative finials and ironwork to the gate.
