Description
The Chandlery Store, previously listed as a boat-house, is located in Clovelly and dates from the late 18th century. This building serves as a fish cellar and net loft and is constructed of random rubble, with some whitewash visible on the ground floor and a slate roof on the gable ends.
The structure is rectangular in plan and features two storeys. On the first floor, there is a one and a two-light casement window under wooden lintels, along with a loading entrance that has paired plank doors. A small casement window with glazing bars is centered on the ground floor, also under a wooden lintel. To the left, there is a broad door opening with paired plank doors, and to the right, another door opening with a half-glazed door.
The forecourt is raised and has a rubble retaining wall, with a flight of stone steps leading up to it, bordered by iron railings. The left side of the building includes a casement window and a three-door opening with plank doors. An iron lamp is mounted high on the gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
