Description

SHEBBEAR SS 40 NE 7/70 Lovacott - - II House. Early - mid C19 possibly with later C19 addition. Plastered stone walls. Hipped slate roof, gabled to rear wings. 2 brick axial stacks and one at gable-end of rear wing. Plan: front range is double depth with rooms to either side of a central entrance hall. There are 2 rear wings of which 1 at least is likely to be an original service wing. Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window front. On 1st floor are original 12- pane hornless sashes, the outer ones with projecting keystones above. Below on each side are 3-light canted bay windows which are probably an original feature but have had late C20 PVC lights inserted. Central glazed porch inserted below original canopy doorhood and with 6-panel door behind which has a semi-circular fanlight above. The right-hand corner of the front has the remains of rusticated plaster quoins. At rear are 2 parallel wings to left and centre. Interior: not accessible at time of survey but likely to contain original joinery such as doors, shutters and staircase, and simple plasterwork.
