Description

No. 1 Honestone Street is a house with a shop, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It features solid rendered walls, with faint traces of masonry markings on the front, and a slate double roof. A rendered chimney is located on the right side wall of the rear range. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a garret, comprising a three-window range.

On the ground floor, to the left, there is a projecting shop window with a flat top and canted sides, consisting of eight panes with three main vertical glazing bars. An entablature at the top extends to the right over former double shop doors. To the right of the shop window, there is a domestic window that is boarded over, and next to it is a six-panel door, where the two lowest panels are flush. This door is topped by a flat hood on plain brackets, which likely lost its original decorative wooden casing. The middle window on the upper storey is blind, while the outer windows have eight-paned sashes set in recessed box frames. A flat-topped dormer window, probably a later addition, is located on the rear roof slope of the front range, and there is a two-light garret window with plain sashes in the left side wall. The interior has not been inspected.
