Description
Pound House and the adjoining house to the west are a pair of houses located in Sheepwash, dating from the early 19th century. The adjoining house may be older but was likely heavily remodeled around the mid-19th century. The buildings feature rendered rubble walls, possibly with some cob, and have slate roofs, with Pound House having a hipped roof and the adjoining house a gabled roof. Each house has a brick stack at its right-hand end.
Both houses are two storeys high and have a two-room plan with a central entry. Pound House likely contains smaller service rooms at the rear. The left-hand house has a symmetrical two-window front with 19th-century two-light small-paned casements. It also features a contemporary gabled porch with cusped bargeboards, decorative ridge tiles, and a round-arched doorway with a 19th-century four-panel door behind it. There is a late 19th-century or early 20th-century lean-to against the left-hand end.
Pound House, on the right, projects slightly and has a symmetrical two-window front with 12-pane sashes—early 19th-century on the first floor and later 19th-century below. There is a 20th-century lean-to glazed porch at the centre with a 20th-century panelled door. The interiors were inaccessible during the survey but may still contain 19th-century joinery.
