Description
Pound Cottage and the attached pound is a house that dates from the 16th or 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of random rubble and has a roof made of pantiles and triple Roman tiles, which is divided into two sections with slightly different pitches. There are two brick stacks on the roof.
The front of the house facing Board Lane is largely featureless, except for a broad four-light window with a segmental head on the left side. There are two door openings; the one on the right has a chamfered four-centred head stone surround, while the one on the left is framed by a dressed stone surround, both featuring plank doors.
To the left of the cottage is a walled pound, which consists of a rubble wall with a rough-hewn capping that varies in height between one and two metres. There is a moulded two-centred arch door opening at the east end, which has a 20th-century plank door. The property is included in the heritage register due to its historical interest.
