Description

The Hawking headstone, located approximately 10 metres south of the chancel of the Church of St Peter in Petersmarland, is a Grade II listed structure. Dated 1780 and 1786, it commemorates Mary and John Hawking, who both died as infants. The headstone is made of slate and features an inscribed arch and columns, with a winged angel's head in each spandrel. An epitaph is located below the main inscription.
