Description

This is a chest tomb dedicated to William Shaplin Mawl, located adjacent to the south door of the Church of All Saints. It dates from 1625 and is made of stone. The tomb is an oblong chest with rubble sides that have been recently repointed and possibly rebuilt. It features a dressed stone slab top with a high-quality incised inscription that reads: "William Shaplin Mawl of Barnstaple who deceased 26 of Octob 1625."
