Description
The game larder, located approximately 10 metres north of Heanton Satchville, dates from the mid to late 19th century. It features brick walls for the lower courses, with slatted timber above to allow for ventilation. The building has a square plan and is topped with an overhanging pyramidal thatch roof. It is a single-storey structure raised above the ground on low granite staddle stones, with steps leading up to a plank door. Inside, the slate floor and ceiling hooks are still present. This larder is a relatively unusual example of a building type that is typically associated with country houses.
