Description

MERTON MERTON SS 51 SW 11/147 Oxenham Court - GV II

House. Mid C19. Stone rubble walls. Hipped slate roof. Rendered brick stack at either end. Plan: Double depth plan, 2 rooms wide, with central entrance hall and service rooms at the rear. Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3 window front of C19 3-light small-paned transomed casements with stone hoodmoulds above and projecting stone architraves and cills. Central timber and glazed porch with flat roof and projecting moulded cornice, panelled and glazed (double) doors and 6 panel door behind. Eaves cornice on brackets with lion masks at intervals along it. Rusticated quoins. Interior: inaccessible at time of survey but likely to be fairly unaltered preserving original joinery. This house was probably built by the Clinton Estate.
