Description
This row of four estate cottages, which includes a Post Office, dates from the mid to late 19th century. The cottages are constructed with stone rubble walls and feature a hipped slate roof. There are two large axial stone ashlar stacks. Each cottage has a two-room plan, typically consisting of one larger heated room and a smaller service room.
The exterior presents a symmetrical front with seven windows, showcasing mainly original fenestration. The windows include two-light casements, with two larger four-light casements at the center that appear to be shared by two cottages, and a three-light casement to the right of each porch. Each window is topped with a dressed stone flat arch and a hoodmould. The row features four identical stone gabled porches, regularly spaced, each adorned with decorative bargeboards and stone arches that include keystones. Behind each porch is a 19th-century four-panelled door, except for the right-hand cottage, which has a 20th-century glazed door. The cottages were built by the Clinton Estate. The interior has not been inspected.
