Description

This milestone, located at SX 859 749 in Kingsteignton, is likely from around 1824, coinciding with the establishment of the turnpike between Bellamarsh and Newcross. It is made of granite and features a rounded top, with two dressed sides. One side is inscribed with "To Chudleigh 3 miles to Exon 13," while the other side reads "To Newton 3 miles to Totnes 11." The lettering is particularly attractive, primarily in lower case with pronounced serifs.
