Description

The barn located approximately 10 meters east of The Old Rectory is now an outbuilding, likely dating from the 16th century. It is constructed of painted stone rubble and cob, topped with a wheat reed thatched roof that is hipped to the left and has a gable end to the right, along with a lateral brick stack at the rear right. The barn has a rectangular plan with three bays and is a single storey.

The northwest front features a wide double doorway with planked doors that is accessed by steps. The original oak doorframe is chamfered with a shouldered head, although the central stile has been replaced. The roof extends lower over the doorway, creating a canopy effect. The walling on either side of the doorway has been rebuilt, while some of the old walling extends beyond the barn to the right. There is a slit window on the right gable, with a larger window added later below it.

Inside, the barn contains two jointed cruck frames with morticed, cambered collars, trenched purlins, and some original rafters. A later hearth is located in one corner. This barn is part of a notable group of buildings.
