Description
This building is a linhay located to the north of No 2 Higher Woodland Cottages, positioned at the west end. It is likely from the 18th century or earlier. The structure is made of stone, with some cob on the tops of the walls, and features a roof that is mostly covered in asbestos, with slate at the front and real slate on the rest. The roof is hipped at the right-hand end. Originally, the linhay was open-fronted and supported by five rough, square-section granite orthostats that carried the floor beams, although these are now partly hidden by boarding and breeze blocks. Inside, there are good roof trusses with notched apexes, and collar beams that are pegged to the faces of the principal rafters. At the front, the feet of the principal rafters are pegged to cruck-like timbers.
