Description

Pier Lodge is a lodge to Oxton House in Kenton, built in the 1860s. It is constructed of brick on stone rubble footings, whitewashed and stuccoed, except for the rear elevation, which is unrendered. The building features a slate roof with gabled ends and stacks that have rendered shafts and moulded cornices.

The lodge is situated on a sharply sloping site, appearing as a single-storey structure from the front but actually has two storeys at the rear. The principal rooms are located at the front, with a short projection on the right end that houses a canted bay window with 19th-century timber sashes featuring glazing bars. To the left, there is a 12-pane sash window and a 19th-century timber front door next to the projection. The left return also has a canted bay window with 19th-century timber sashes and a 12-pane rear block. The rear elevation displays exposed brick quoins and brick jambs around the windows. A 20th-century greenhouse has been added to the right return.

The interior has not been inspected. The lodge was referred to as 'Haldon Lodge' in the 1871 census returns.
