Description
Lawn Cottage is a cottage, likely dating from the 18th century. It is situated on the west side of North Street in Ipplepen. The building has rendered rubble walls and a gabled slate roof, with one section hipped where it adjoins number 15 North Street. A substantial rendered rubble stack is located at the rear of the building, and a rendered brick stack sits at the right-hand gable end. The original layout is unclear, but it may be a double-depth plan with heated rooms at the rear, sharing the rear stack. The front elevation is asymmetrical, with three windows on each storey. These are early 20th-century, two-light casements with small panes of glass. A three-light, 20th-century plank door is positioned to the right of centre on the ground floor, sheltered by a slate porch hood. The interior was not accessible for inspection.
