Description
Elm Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It features rendered rubble walls and a slate roof, which has a gabled end on the left and a hipped end on the right. The building has two large rendered rubble gable end stacks, with the stack on the left side offset from the ridge, and a small rendered brick chimney shaft at the front. The layout is double depth, with two heated rooms on the left, possibly with a central passage, and an unheated room on the right.
The cottage is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical front with two windows. The first-floor windows are three-light casements from the 19th century, although the glazing bars have been removed; the left window includes one leaded light on the right side. On the ground floor, there are early 20th-century casements with glazing bars, featuring three lights on the left and two lights on the right. A plank door from the early 20th century is located to the right of centre, sheltered by a slate pentice porch hood. The interior was inaccessible at the time of the survey.
