Description

The village pump in Ipplepen, located on Fore Street, dates from 1868 and is made of cast iron. It features an octagonal casing with a plain base, topped by decorative gothic panelled sides that are arched at both the top and bottom with cusping. The pump has a crenellated cornice and an octagonal ogee domed top. On one side, there is a curved handle with an ornate terminal, and the front has a water spout that also has a decorated end. Inscribed on the pump is "In memory of William Field who died 21st February 1868."
