Description

The Broadhempston War Memorial, built in 1921, is a freestanding cross made of dressed granite. It stands 11 feet 6 inches high on a two-stepped, square base set on a concrete foundation. The east face of the top step features an inscription in black lettering that reads: "GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918/ 'GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS.'/ WILLIAM GEORGE FIELD, 1st 5th DEVONS,/ JOHN WILLIAM GRANT, 16th ROYAL WARWICKS,/ LEONARD PALK 5th GLOUCESTERS."
