Description
The Lopen War Memorial, dating from the 1920s, is constructed of granite and stands on a stone slab base. It features a freestanding cross with a square profile tapering column and a wheel cross on top, resting on a square moulded plinth and base. The front face of the plinth, facing north-east, is inscribed in lead lettering with the dedication: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THE BRAVE MEN OF LOPEN FREDERICK HALL, FRED PIDGEON, ERNEST WILLIAM EDMONDS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918." Additionally, the north-west face bears a later inscription from 2016: "ALSO BROTHERS GEORGE AND WILLIAM HENRY GREENHAM."
