Description

Crickets is a small house, currently divided into two units, built around 1800 with a 20th-century addition. The exterior features rendered rubble walls and a gable-ended slate roof, supported by two rendered gable end stacks, with the left-hand stack likely made of stone and the right-hand one probably of brick. The house has a double depth plan with rooms of unequal size at the front, a stair hall located to the left of center, and very small service rooms at the back. The rear was extended in the 20th century. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has an asymmetrical front with three early 19th-century 16-pane sash windows set under stone arches. To the left, there is a six-panel 19th-century door beneath a gabled porch hood. Inside, there is a fairly simple staircase from around 1820-1830 featuring a turned newel and stick balusters. The property also includes a 19th-century outbuilding, reputedly a workshop, attached at the rear, constructed of rubble and topped with a gable-ended slate roof. Each side of the first floor features a long window with several lights.
