Description
This is a farmbuilding, probably dating from the late 18th century, located about 70 metres southwest of Higher Rocombe Farmhouse in Stokeinteignhead. The structure is made of unrendered cob on stone rubble footings, with the left end wall rebuilt in stone and a corrugated iron roof that is gabled at both ends. The building has a large rectangular plan, running parallel to the road, and includes a loft.
On the exterior, there are no loft openings on the side facing the road, which features two doorways and a window. There are loft doorways at each end, as well as a ground floor door and a window on the right end. The rear elevation has three loft doors and eight ground floor openings, with some doors converted to windows and some windows converted to doors. The interior has not been inspected, but it is likely that original carpentry is still present. This impressive roadside farmbuilding holds group value with Higher Rocombe Farmhouse and the farm buildings to the north of it.
