Description
Farthings is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century, featuring incised stucco and a slate roof with rendered stacks at the gable ends. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall with a symmetrical three-window arrangement. The upper storey has late 19th-century horned 6/6-pane sash windows, while the ground floor features mid-19th-century French windows with margin panes and Gothic tracery in the overlight. To the right, there is a single-storey entrance with plain pilasters and a raised pediment above double doors that have three panels with moulded designs and roll-moulded stiles.
Attached to the left of the house is a wall with heavy coping that extends forward for about 1 meter, then turns to face the house and steps down to meet the gate piers, which are approximately 2 meters high and topped with pyramidal caps. A pebble path leads to the entrance doors, and to the right, a rubblestone wall about 2 meters high extends for approximately 6 meters. The interior has not been inspected.
