8/2 Garden wall, gate piers and gates - to garden south of Ashcombe Tower

GV II

Garden walls, gate-piers ad gate. Designed by Brian O'Rorke and contemporary with the house (q.v.), designed 1933-6. Stone rubble. Low, curving stone rubble garden walls rising as taller walls flanking the south (garden) entrance to Ashcombe Tower. Semi-circular paved steps up to the panelled timber gates which are flanked by round gate piers crowned with ball finials. Important to the setting of Ashcombe Tower and part of its original design.
