Description

The garden wall, gate piers, and gates located south of Ashcombe Tower were designed by Brian O'Rorke and are contemporary with the house, built between 1933 and 1936. Constructed from stone rubble, the low, curving garden walls rise to taller sections that flank the south entrance to Ashcombe Tower. Semi-circular paved steps lead up to the panelled timber gates, which are flanked by round gate piers topped with ball finials. This structure is important to the setting of Ashcombe Tower and is part of its original design.
