Description

The bridge over the disused drive to Kitley House, located in Yealmpton Parish, dates back to 1860 and features the initials BIPB. Designed in the Tudor style, it is constructed from coursed stone rubble with ashlar dressings. The bridge has a four-centred arch set at an angle, with a keystone that displays the date and initials, and is flanked by buttresses that have set-offs. Above the arch is a moulded stringcourse, and there is an armorial shield in a raised panel on the parapet. The parapet is stepped and features chamfered coping over the central section. Both sides of the bridge are designed in a similar manner, and the inside of the arch is lined with brick.
