Description

The lychgate and steps located north-east of the Church of St John the Baptist date from the 19th century. It features a flight of nine stone steps with a solid stone rubble balustrade that leads up to the flanking walls of the lychgate, which supports a later slate roof. Beyond the lychgate, there is another flight of six steps leading up to the churchyard at a raised level. One of the flank walls of the lychgate is built against the gable end of Holmeleigh Cottage. This structure is included for its group value.
