Description

Torr House is a detached villa dating from around 1840. It is built with smooth rendered and painted walls and has a low-pitched slate roof. The design is symmetrical, exhibiting a Regency style with two-storey square bays and a recessed central section, featuring three windows across the front. The windows are 16-pane sashes on the lower floor and 12-pane sashes above, each with a vermiculated keystone. A glazed portico, supported by reeded pilasters, is centrally positioned and includes a radial fanlight above the central entrance door, with another fanlight above the inner door. Other features include a plinth, plat band, alternately plain and vermiculated strip quoins, and deep box eaves. Pairs of octagonal chimney stacks are located to the right and left sides, and a second pair to the right. The side returns of the house feature two-light glazing-bar casements on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
