Description

This building is an outbuilding that likely served as a workshop and cartshed, dating from around the mid-19th century. It is constructed from local slate rubble and features a scantle slate half-hipped roof. The building has a rectangular plan with a slightly bowed right-hand (south) end. The west front has a large double door at the center, with a narrow doorway to the left at the rear, and a loft above. It is attached to the southwest corner of the house known as Church Wells.

The exterior is two stories tall and has a symmetrical three-window arrangement on the west front. To the left of center is a wide cart entrance with a large chamfered timber lintel and plank double doors. Above this entrance is a slate drip mould that serves as a cill for the loft doorway above, which has a timber lintel and a plank door. On the first floor, there are C19 two-light casements with vertical glazing bars and overlapping panes, all featuring timber lintels and slate sills. The rear of the building has similar C19 overlapping-pane windows, with two on the first floor and one on the ground floor, as well as a plank door on the right. The bowed right-hand (south) end has a C19 three-light overlapping-pane window with a slate sill, and the C19 casement above it has four large panes and a slate sill. The left-hand (north) wall is plain. The interior has not been inspected. The loft is used as an annex to the adjoining house, Church Wells.
