Description

Nos 25 and 27 on Fore Street are 18th century buildings that have been altered or may date from the early 19th century. They are three stories tall with slate hung upper floors and feature two flush frame sash windows each, with No 25 retaining its glazing bars. The shop fronts, dating from around 1830 to 1840, are designed to match and include central coupled entrances, flank pilasters with incised ornament, and an enriched entablature. The buildings also have a wooden eaves cornice with a soffit panel. They are part of a group that includes the Anchor Hotel and the Evangelical Church, among others.
