Description

The Drive Bridge at Curtisknowle is a bridge built around 1830 that carries the drive to Curtisknowle House over a lane leading to the estate village of Curtisknowle. It is likely contemporary with another drive bridge located nearby, which is also dated to 1830. The bridge is constructed from local slate rubble and features a segmental arch made of rough slate voussoirs, with straight-sided abutments that project on the west side. It has low parapets made of vertical slate stone. The lane beneath the bridge is situated on a steep slope, and the bridge spans a cutting in the slate bedrock.
