Description

Stable Cottage and Church Cottage are a pair of cottages from the 18th century, which were extended in the 19th and 20th centuries. They feature rendered stone rubble and cob walls, with a thatched roof that has a gable at the left end and is hipped at the right. Originally, both cottages may have been built as one house, each having been a single room. Stable Cottage, on the left, has been expanded by converting the stable at its left end into an extra room and includes a small 19th-century outshut at the front. Church Cottage, on the right, has had an additional room added on each floor at the right end during the 20th century.

The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical two-window front. Stable Cottage has a 20th-century two-light small-paned casement on the first floor, with a 20th-century lean-to porch and a plank door below. To the left, there is a 19th-century outshut with a catslide roof, and at the far left is a single-storey range that was formerly the stable. Church Cottage features a 20th-century single-light casement on the left side of the ground floor and a stable-type door behind a shallow thatch porch to the right. The interior of Stable Cottage is accessible but does not exhibit any early features.
