Description

Compton House is a house, originally a farmhouse, dating to around the 17th century. It was remodelled in the early 19th century and extended in the late 19th century. The house is constructed of stuccoed stone with a slate roof and gable ends. It is arranged as a long, four-window range, with a one-window extension to the south-east. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within moulded architraves and bracketed cills. The ground floor windows are two-light sashes with keyblocks in plain architraves. A central panelled door leads into the house. A carriageway is situated on the right, within the late 19th-century extension. Large stuccoed chimney stacks are located at either end of the original range, with another large stack at the rear. The property includes garden area railings in front, featuring urn finials to the stanchions and gates in the centre.
