Description
This milestone, dating from around 1824, is located approximately 440 metres south of Cleave Farmhouse. It is a small granite monolith with a roughly rounded top and a splayed front. The stone features inscriptions in upper and lower case lettering with serifs. The right side reads "To Dart no 10" and the left side reads "To Mod 6½". However, it appears that the stone has been placed incorrectly, as Modbury is actually to the right (west) and Dartmouth to the left (east). The milestone is associated with the Dartmouth-Modbury Turnpike Trust, which was established by the Turnpike Act of 1824.
