Description

Ashford House is a country house dating to around 1840. It is constructed of colourwashed stone with a hipped slate roof and a deep cornice. The house has a double-depth plan and two right-angled extensions to the rear, framing a large round-arched stair window. The facade is symmetrical. It is two storeys high, with three bays featuring panelled pilasters. Brick stacks with four pots are present at each gable end. The central doorway is topped by a rounded decorative fanlight, flanked by pilasters and a panelled door. There are three timber sash windows with eight panes each above the doorway, and two timber sash windows on each side, with two panes above four panes. A slatted verandah roof with a cornice, returned at the ends, runs the length of the facade and is supported by slender iron columns.
