Description
Strand House is a house that likely has a core dating back to the 17th century, but the front portion was heavily remodeled in the 19th century. It is built of whitewashed cob and rubble, with some brick, and features gable-ended slate roofs arranged in a T-shaped plan. There is a brick stack at the east gable end and three additional brick stacks. The south facade has three windows on each floor, which are timber sashes with glazing bars and shutters. A right-angled projection on the south side has plain gable end bargeboards and a single sash window above a tall two-light casement, both with glazing bars. There is a lean-to greenhouse in the angle. On the north side, there are two first-floor timber sashes with glazing bars, and a 24-holed projecting wooden dovecote suspended from the eaves level to the left of a 20th-century door and a round window. The gable-ended projection on the east face has two three-light wooden casements with grill bars above a plank door that has two glazed upper panels to the left of a three-light casement. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to have been much altered in the late 20th century.
