Description

The ruins of the Chapel of St John the Baptist and the Priest's House date from around 1250. The site was excavated and the walls were partially rebuilt to a regular height in 1924. The chapel features low rubble walls, and there is a two-room dwelling for the priest. This site served as a secular chantry and was also the burial place of Arthur Leigh Barker and Lady Arthur Cecil of Spreacombe Manor, who conducted the excavation.
