Detached house. Early C19. Solid, rendered walls. Hipped, asbestos slated roof. Rendered chimney on right (east) gable wall. Double-fronted plan, probably 2-rooms-deep with staircase at rear of centre. 2 storeys with garret; single-storeyed structure at right-hand end. 3-window front facing East Wider Brook (the house backs on to Horne Road). Doric porch in centre with 6-panelled door. Barred sash windows to left and above porch; canted bay window with plainer sashes to right. Added conservatory (probably C20) at right-hand end. Rear wall (facing Horne Road) also 3 windows wide; 6-paned sashes, except for tall middle window, which has coloured, leaded Art Nouveau glass. To right of this window, under the eaves, is a small, inserted 2-light window, each light of 2 panes. 2 dormers with curved heads, the sides hung with asbestos slates; late C20 in appearance. INTERIOR: Details include a central stair hall with dogleg stair and column newel, and panelled doors. The house is shown on the 1840 tithe map. (Ilfracombe Tithe Map: Devon Record Office: 1840-).
