Description
No. 14 Joy Street is a mid-19th century house with a shop. It features solid rendered walls and a slated roof that is hipped towards Boutport Street. The building stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range facing Joy Street, with a one-window return on Boutport Street and an additional window on the splayed corner.
The late 19th-century shop front is present on both streets, showcasing a three-quarter glazed door with a moulded bottom panel at the corner. On the right end of the Boutport Street front, there is a pilaster with an incised key pattern, and an entablature with an enriched cornice, which is finished with a carved block and console at the right side. To the left of the Joy Street front, there is a second door with four flush panels.
The upper-storey windows are adorned with moulded architraves; the second-storey windows have eared architraves with keystones, while the third-storey windows feature continued moulded cills. The windows are barred sashes, with eight over eight panes on the two fronts and six over six panes on the splayed corner. The building also has a prominent bracketed eaves cornice. The interior has not been inspected.
