Description
The gatepiers, flanking walls, and railings located approximately 20 metres east of St George House date from the late 18th century and 19th century. The gatepiers are made of ashlar stone and feature iron railings set on rubblestone walls topped with ashlar capping on each side. The gatepiers display an egg and dart motif in the coving of their moulded caps, which are topped with enriched classical vases that have fluted drums and heavily carved caps. Each pier has pilasters on the upper face, with fluted consoles at the heads, and one pintle remains on the left side. The gate itself has been removed.
