Description

The garden walls, gatepiers, and gates to the kitchen garden, located approximately 35 metres south-east of Castle Hill House, date from the 18th century. The garden walls are constructed of brick in Flemish bond, while the gatepiers are made of brick with ashlar dressings. The gates are wrought iron. The walls primarily enclose the kitchen garden on three sides, with gatepiers and a gate at the north-west corner. There are shallow buttresses at short intervals along the walls. The left-hand wall features four ornamental stone balls at intervals on its lower section, which angles inwards, and the right-hand wall also ends with a similar ball finial. The gatepiers at the north-west corner are topped with ball finials, and the wrought iron gates have a scrolled overthrow.
