Description

BRAYFORD HIGH BRAY SS 63 SE 9/95 Glebelands Farmhouse - - II Farmhouse, one time rectory. Cl7 with possibly earlier origins, C18 and early C20 additions. Whitewashed rendered stone rubble. Slate roof hipped at left end, gable ended to right. Axial stack and gable end stacks, all rendered. Probably originally 3-room through-passage plan, but upper end rebuilt extended and heightened in C18 and additional early C20 short range added to rear left side parallel to main range. 2 short right-angled extensions to front left side and rear right side. 2 storeys. 4-window range, the 2 to left side lower range are Cl9/early C20 3 light and 2 light casements above canted bay window with slate roof. 6 panelled door to left with shallow latticed wooden porch. Right side has two 2-storey bay windows to full height with hipped roofs with crested centre ridge tile. Triple sashes to each floor and single sidelight sashes. Early plank door with moulded cover strips at left end. Interior: single roughly hewn beam to room to left of through-passage. Possible single early truss with curved feet to inaccessible part of roofspace over lower end, otherwise roof timbers replaced. Barley sugar balusters to balustrade at head of staircase which has moulded handrail but without balusters.
