Description

No. 21 High Street is a shop with living accommodation above, likely built in the mid to late 18th century, with a shop front replaced in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of painted Flemish bond brick, with an asbestos slate roof and a right-end brick chimney stack. The plan incorporates a double depth and a passageway on the right side of the building.

The exterior presents an asymmetrical two-window front with regular window placement. Deep eaves are supported by tall paired brackets. A moulded lintel sits above the passageway on the right. The modern shop front features a shop door to the left of centre, with doors and windows containing small panes of glass. The first floor has two 18th-century 12-pane sash windows with segmental arched heads and flush frames. The second floor has two similar 6-pane sash windows. Some of the original glass remains in the windows.

The ground floor interior was gutted for shop use, but features of interest may still exist on the upper floors.
