Description
25 High Street is a shop with accommodation above, likely dating from the late 18th century, possibly a remodelling of a mid-18th century house. It is constructed of painted Flemish bond brick and has a slate roof, with brick chimney stacks at the left end topped with old pots. The building has a double depth plan, consisting of one room wide, with a cartway to the right.
The exterior features three storeys and an asymmetrical two-window front. It has deep eaves with a moulded cornice supported by paired eaves brackets. The first floor includes a late 18th century or early 19th century 20-pane sash window, while the left side over the cartway has an early 19th century 12-pane sash. On the second floor, the right window is a 3/6-pane early 19th century sash, and to the left is a 19th century two-light casement window with three panes per light. The shop front, added in the late 20th century, includes a plate glass shop window and a matching door. The interior has not been inspected but may contain interesting features.
