Description
120 and 121 High Street is a shop with flats above, likely built around 1745, with a 20th-century shop front. The building is constructed of Flemish bond brick and has a roof concealed behind a parapet, with brick stacks. It has an L-shaped plan with a rear wing at right angles. The exterior features three storeys and a symmetrical three-bay front above the shop, with a roof that runs parallel to the street. The windows include some old glass, with 12-pane early 19th-century hornless sashes on the first floor, featuring rubbed brick flat arches, and 3 over 6-pane sashes on the second floor, also with similar arches. There are blind recesses at the parapet and a band of white paint at the first-floor level that hides the former shop name. The rear elevation has an early 18th-century first-floor 12-pane sash. The interior of the shop has been modernised, but features of interest may still exist elsewhere in the building.
