Description

This is a shop with living accommodation above, likely dating from the mid to late 18th century. Around 1988, a new shop front was installed, loosely inspired by late 19th-century designs. It is constructed of painted Flemish bond brick, with a slate roof and brick chimney stacks. The building is three storeys high and has an asymmetrical three-bay facade. The roof has deep eaves, an eaves fascia and moulded brackets. A stack is located within the party wall on the right-hand side. The ground floor features a circa 1988 timber shop front with moulded brackets on its fascia. The first floor has three windows, originally from the mid to late 18th century and likely featuring flush frame sashes. These windows were re-glazed in the late 19th or 20th century with 2-pane horned sashes, and have moulded architraves and keyblocks. The second floor mirrors the first, with similar windows and glazing. The ground floor interior has been modernised, but original features may remain on the upper floors. The current shop front replaced an earlier arrangement consisting of sash shop windows on either side of a central doorway.
