Description
This barn, located approximately 8 metres south-west of Ford Farmhouse, dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings and has a corrugated asbestos roof, which was originally thatch. The barn has a gable end facing east, featuring a large doorway slightly left of centre, flanked by short projecting midstrey walls that support a small porch roof. To the left of the doorway is a narrow ventilator, and to the right are inserted 20th-century garage doors. There is also a smaller rear door leading to the threshing floor. Inside, the barn has a 4-bay roof supported by A-frame trusses with pegged lap-jointed collars and X-apexes. This barn is part of a group that includes nearby stables, a cowshed, and the picturesque Ford Farmhouse.
