Description
This is a barn located 5 metres south-west of Lower Ford Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century with a 19th-century extension that includes a 15th-century window. The barn is constructed from cob with a stone plinth and roughcast finish. It features a gabled end roof, with the 17th-century section covered in corrugated asbestos and the 19th-century section covered in slate. The earlier part of the barn has a 19th-century lean-to addition on the left side and includes large double doors with a chamfered surround, as well as access to a hay loft above. Inside, there are four jointed crucks that have been sawn off just above the joint. The 19th-century section has two doors and a first-floor opening, and it retains a reset medieval window in the end wall. This window is timber, square-headed, with three lights, each light being trefoil-headed and slightly pointed in shape. The mullions and jambs are chamfered, and both the sill and lintel are intact.
