Description

This is a terrace of three houses located on St Andrew Street in Tiverton. The houses date from the early 19th century or possibly earlier. They are constructed of painted Flemish bond brick with natural slate roofs, featuring brick stacks and cast-iron rainwater goods.

Internally, a partial inspection of No. 23 revealed a double-depth plan, with each house being one room wide. There is a central passage between Nos. 19 and 21, extending to the rear, with front doors leading off it. The staircase in No. 23 is positioned parallel to the road, between the front and back rooms, and a stack projects through the roof towards the front of the house.

Each house has two storeys and a single-window front. No. 23 has a five-panel front door with the top panel glazed. A passageway door between Nos. 19 and 21 has four panels, with the top two glazed. All houses have sixteen-pane hornless sash windows, and flat arches above the openings. Fire insurance plates are visible on Nos. 21 and 23.

The interior of the passage walls are half-panelled, with a plank door leading to the rear, featuring a glazed pane. No. 21 contains a dog-leg staircase and an A-frame roof. Historical records suggest a claim by the owner of deeds dating to the 1770s; however, deeds dating to 1830 were inspected during the listing assessment.
