Description
This is a house dating to around 1810 in Tiverton. It is constructed of painted Flemish bond brick, with the right end weatherboarded and the rear elevation slate-hung; the roof is natural slate with lead rolls, hipped at the right end, and includes end stacks with brick bands and old pots. The main range is two rooms wide and one room deep, with a central entrance and a side passage at the right end.
The symmetrical front has three bays, plus one bay at the right end. Deep eaves are supported on moulded brackets. Rubbed brick arches are visible beneath the paintwork. The pilastered doorcase has a cornice and panelled reveals; the upper panels are fielded and the fanlight has spoke glazing bars enriched with quarter circles. To the right, a round-headed doorway leads to the passage and has a door with four flush panels and a plain fanlight. All windows have moulded architraves. The ground floor and the outer first-floor windows have 16-pane sashes, while the windows over the doors have 8-pane sashes. Some old glass remains in the windows. The interior was not inspected but is likely to retain features of interest.
